Lt. Carlos Cantu first encountered The Salvation Army when he was the recipient of toys through the Angel Tree Program. Lt. Valentina Cantu encountered The Salvation Army through an invitation to participate in the Wednesday night youth programs at The Salvation Army church. Both Lts. were born in two different countries. Lt. Carlos Cantu is a native of Mexico and Lt. Valentina Cantu a native of Colombia. They met in Gainesville, GA at the Salvation Army church at a early age, both were called to full-time ministry during their teenage years.

Lts. Cantu married in March of 2008, in August of that same year they entered the Evangeline Booth College to pursue the calling to become Salvation Army Officers. Lts. Cantu were commissioned in June 2010 to the Atlanta Peachcrest Corps, at their commissioning, Lt. Carlos Cantu received the Commissioner’s Award. Lt. Carlos and Lt. Valentina remained on the dean’s list during their whole training experience. Currently, Lt’s Cantu are both enrolled at Trevecca Nazarene University, continuing their college education where both of them are majoring in Christian Ministry.

Lts. Cantu are fluent in Spanish and English. They love to travel, experience new foods, and being able to impact so many young lives at the Atlanta Peachcrest Corps and Boys & Girls Club! Their life’s verse is Habakkuk 1:5 “Look at the nations and watch–and be utterly amazed. For I am going to do something in your days that you would not believe even if you were told.”

“Never, at our early age, did we imagine that God was going to use us in such a mighty way! We have the amazing privilege to impact the lives of over 200 kids on a daily basis! God’s plan exceed our wildest imagination, and we are ever so grateful to Him!” –Lts. Carlos and Valentina Cantu
