Major NJ Pope
Corps Officer
N J Pope, a graduate of Wayne County High School in Waynesboro, Tennessee, attended Belmont College and Northern Virginia Community College as well as the University of South Alabama with studies in Business and Finance. He also attended the University of the Air Force at Maxwell Air Force Base for leadership training.
In 1966, The calling of ”Flying High” caught N J’s attention and he enlisted in the U S Air Force where he served as the Airman in Charge of War Readiness Spare Kits and was transferred to the 19th Squadron to set up the supply group for the return of this squadron from overseas assignment.
During the work in the Air Force God placed a young member of The Salvation Army at the same base. The two became friends and due to this friendship God led N J to the work as an Officer.
N J and Dorothy Roberts Pope met and were married in 1972. They proudly claim two children Jason Pope, Territorial Headquarters in West Nyack, New York and Robin Pope, Georgia Division, Atlanta, Georgia, one daughter-in-law Kelly Carter Pope and a gorgeous granddaughter,
Sydney Reese Pope.
Commissioned in 1976 from the School For Officers Training (now Evangeline Booth College) appointments took the Popes from the beaches of Savannah, GA to the flats of Plainview Texas. Further appointments included Baton Rogue, La. Mobile, Al., Vicksburg, Ms. Jackson Ms. In 1987 N J was appointed to Washington DC to finance work, where he was to spend the next 21 years in various business and finance appointments including the Business Administration for the Evangeline Booth College.
The love for fishing grows each year and many friendships have developed over some of the most beautiful streams in North Georgia. He looks forward to many nice trout over the years to come.
